low/dipping idle *tried searching*
first off before i get flamed, ive been trying to use the search for a day and a half and everytime i do it i get a message that says the search is temporarily unavailable. The problem im having is the idle when i come to a stop. It will be find for a few seconds, then it will dip down to around 400rpms sometimes lower, it doesnt feel that rough but it drops. The car doesnt seem to bog or anything at any other rpm, it gets good gas mileage (34mpg on the last tank). I wanted to know what I should change/check to fix the idle. its a 98 ex coupe btw. I was going to adjust it with the idle screw, but im not sure how it goes with obd2, on my 93 teg you had to use the jumper on the ecu before you made changes like timing or idle so that they would stay. thanks for the help

you should worry about it. i drove alot of 92-94 with stock engines that run like new and idle perfect. anything other than perfect is bad. man you know i been having the idle problem too, alot of peolpe on HT will tell you to do this and that, but nothing worked for me so im taking mine back to honda for them to fix the problem no matter how much it cost cause im sick of that *****. but for you before you take it in you could try a few things like i did. vacum leaks, check clean Fast idle thermo valve, same for idle air control valve, bleed coolant, if none of that works try what im gona do. take it back to honda. just what i think

Re: (cyang08)
likely is the IACV is unplugged or not working...
If it's plugged in, unplug it... the engine should stall or nearly stall.... if nothing changes, remove and clean the iacv and try again...
