loud vtec crossover

Re: loud vtec crossover
You should hear that "pop" noise at 4500rpm followed by a slightly throatier resonance once the secondaries open up at 5800-6000rpm.
See maybe this topic can be salvaged with some actual tech info after all.

Re: loud vtec crossover
The safest point to set the engagement is 5600 RPM for a USDM B16A and 5800 for a 2nd-generation JDM B16A. It's not ideal, but it's better than just guessing without a dyno plot.

Re: loud vtec crossover
...I always read about and heard about havin loud vtak was in the head work (cams, porting, intake mani, headers, intake, and even the sought after misterious "big" vtak solenoid) I myself have had a gsr, poor mans type r, and now a fully built b16b, and out of all these swaps I gta say the b16b has hit and pulled the hardest,
On the full gsr I just had ctr tranny, and dc headers only
On the poormans I had b18c1 block ctr pistons, ctr head (complete) ctr headers, pwjdm carbon intake
On the b16b I have benson sleeves, jun stroker (2.0) p&p 5angle ctr head jun spec 3 cams toda valvetrain, toda itbs, rmf headers, bc spec 2 exhaust. Quaife ctr tranny
And for all u that are lookin for the "big" vtak solenoid cuz its louder and faster engaging, ITS TRUE!!! I swapped mine to my friends b16a2 eg hatch and it made a big difference soundwise and trackwise...
(Loud)VTAK FTMFW!!! Lol

It's a freaking spool valve. It has nothing to do with anything.

Re: loud vtec crossover
what port?
depends, do you have a data cable (usb) coming from a black box(ostrich)
or did you have a chip burned?
chips suk. buy a moates ostrich 2.0 $175 and you can put that into your socket and tune. and plug that right into your computer. go to moates.net and download the ostrich driver(free) youl neeed that for the laptop to recognize the usb to ecu

Re: loud vtec crossover
Likely your comparing the American b16 medium buzz sound To what I think you had the b16 out of the integra xsi from Japan It had 10 more hp making 170crank the biggest difference was more aggressive cams.. I had an xsi b16 and eventually threw it on a b18 bottom end...that FlunKer Creeeeamed!!!! .....Or was that mE...
