I can't seem to find anyone else with the same problem maybe I just suck at looking I have 95 del sol there is a loud knocking noise when I accelerate from a dead stop and when I start braking and come to a complete stop I've replaced lower ball joints and put brand new control arms and bushings and sway bar bushings also noticed my tire is getting chewed up pretty bad on the same side the knocking is comin from when I'm driving sometimes I can hear my tire screeching if I start making a slight left turn please help I don't know what else it could possibly be 😩

The strut is probably bad. The dampener.

Interesting, knocking like that is usually ball joints or sway bar links. Though since you have already replaced those, can you do yourself a DIY alignment? This could shed some light on whats loose where. Measure ride height at all 4 corners as-well. If one corner is lower you most likely have an spring/damper issue there


I have a similar problem with my 93 Sol, an knocking under sudden braking on drivers side. I am replacing lower ball-joints, upper ball-joint boots, sway bushings, and sway end-links in the near future. I have already replaced inner and outer tie rods and fully serviced the front calipers. So i will report back on my success or failure.

Have you inspected the bushings on your steering rack? It may be shifting back and forth. You also haven't mentioned if you checked tie rod ends inner and outer. These are the pieces that hold the tire straight and if they have play it will knock, allow the tire to to wobble, vibrate, and eat the tread. Very similar symptoms of a wheel bearing w/o the signature howling. The screeching you mentioned means the Tire is getting out of line with the others and it is causing it to drag.

You have to watch just repairing anything that seems suspect, as it can put you i the hole quickly. Try and find the source, fix that then worry about its shady neighbors. Though in your case i get that you just want the problem solved.

I installed my lower ball joints and upper ball joint boots. My noise is also still present. I bought a set of CV axels at Advanced Auto in 2014. The boots are cracking and they said they would replace them at no cost, so i may also be replacing half shafts in the near future. That and i will be replacing front sway bar bushings and end links tomorrow. I shall continue to report on my success or failure.

Update Just replaced the wheel bearing noise is still there list so far

Update found the problem bolts were loose on the k frame

Oh wow wouldn't have guessed that was the problem. Congrats on getting to the bottom of it! Also thanks for coming back and sharing your success. So many people disappear as soon as they no longer need help. Leaving the thread w/o an end or a solution.


I did my front sway end-links and bushings today, my noise is sadly still there. Though with your results i will surely be checking the entirety of my sub frame for any loose bolts and play. May i ask which bolts exactly were the issue?

They are the 19mm bolts under the car on the k frame kinda on the body of the car
