Loud Intake
Hi everyone,
I drive a Honda Delsol 95' in automatic, I installed a aem coldair intake with a K&N filter, and it seems so much loader than my friends Delsol (97'). There really
isn't much of a difference between our cars except that the 97' has a
manual trans and his intake came with the aem filter. We both reset our electric and checked the idle speeds. My car seems to be sucking so much more air. I don't mind the noise, I just hope there isn't something else wrong.
Thanks.
Al

Re: Loud Intake (mercforty4)
same thing with my civic auto and my friends manual civic. automatics idle 100 rpm higher thats why it seems to suck more air. how much slower is your car than your friends?

Re: Loud Intake (VTEC CX)
In my opinion the cold air intakes aren't nearly as loud as the short ram ones , especially under full throttle . I had a short ram and went to an AEM and damn , the AEM was alot quieter compaired to the short ram.

Re: Loud Intake (autoejcivic)
Actually, I feel more of a boost from my engine than the 97' (manual),
except that I have to deal with the poor response from the auto trans.
I guess, the higher idle makes it louder, it's especially loud when the air
condition is on, which brings the idle even higher.
On hills, the rpm shoots up to 4 really quik, but I don't seem to go anywhere, I'm
assuming that's the limitations of an auto.

automatics....they have a mind of there own
actually its just down shifting it self to stay at the same speed, like you would do manually with a manual trany

Re: Loud Intake (autoejcivic)
Yours is probably louder because the filter is cleaner, and newer. Have him clean his and it should be loud again. My friend's filter was dirty as hell and after cleaned it sounded great again.
