Default Lost the radio code 00 Si.

Friend bought this mint stock Si only catch it came with nothing owners manual wise. I know all you will say "get an aftermarket deck" that's what I said too he wants to keep it stock down to the tire size even!. Either way what can we do? I've never had a car yet that came with a stock radio other then my FIT but I got that with all the books/pamphlets.

it's a real pain driving with him due to the awk silence since no radio

Go to the dealership with your ownership and VIN.

You've been here since 2012, and you have over seven thousand posts under your belt. There is zero excuse for you not searching.

This happened to me a few years back, bought a stock 1999 Honda Civic Radio for my 1998 Honda Civic EX 4 DR, got it from eBay or LKQ not sure, but it did not come with the code. So I called American Honda, gave them the VIN and the Serial from the radio and the guy just read off the codes for me over the phone. Dont have HMC number, but Google that and give them a call, worse case is they might ask you to pay a visit to the nearest dealership.

Funny story, after I got the radio and removed the aftermarket, I found the stock radio wired to it and hidden under there, looked it up and they said the stock is needed for the dome light to work and the remote door locks.

Good luck.

Yes but I found conflicting things via searching the main thing being very "dated" threads and ppl saying you need the radio S/N also(involves tearing apart the dash to remove the radio).

So can anyone confirm if we need to rip the radio out to retrieve the S/N cause that's a MAJOR pain.

thanks.

Just go to the dealership with the information I mentioned above.

Based on the VIN, the dealership can pull up a vehicle-specific BOM (bill of materials) which has the radio's serial number, and therefore, a radio code, as well.

lol.

Removing the stereo in an EK Civic isn't difficult in the slightest. But as I said, you don't need to remove it anyways.

Make the call to American Honda, either way they will tell you if you need the serial on the radio or if you (your buddy, that is) have to visit the dealership. If you got the VIN and give them a call, they might be able to look it up from the records (that is if they keep records that long).
