loss in horsepower due to altitude?
 

hows it going...i recently moved to colorado from houston and due to the altitude i have a loss in horsepower it feels like due to the thinness of the air up here...im at about 6500 ft compared to houston which is sea level...anyway to compensate for this and /or boost power to sea level ratings?? gsr in an ek. Yes I agree...guess not much i can do but boost it. This is my first Vtec motor so im still learning. Good news is its still an even playing field up here because everyone's motor runs the same. Somewhere I heard that if you unplug ecu overnight and replug in the morning over a period of a couple of weeks then the ecu will adjust to less oxygen in air? I dunno. Any truth to this possibly? You're talking about resetting the ECU by unplugging the negative terminal of your battery. It does not need to be done overnight. And yes, it will allow the computer to adjust to the new atmosphere, but so will driving around for a few days. It doesn't matter, though, because you still won't regain any power. Higher altitude = less oxygen for your motor = less horsepower. Nothing you can do about it unless you force more air into your motor through a blower or turbo. https://honda-tech.com/forums/images/smilies/emwink.gif Or you could move back to TX. . . .
