Re: losing power on a sohc
since your doing the exhaust stuff you might as well get an intake for it.
you should gain a bit. problaly won't be too noticeable though

Gaining power definitely, but it might be better with a high flow cat instead of a test pipe. You won't really loose power and you won't have as much of a buzzing sound.
And an Intake would help too with that exhaust.

And, if it's little enough back pressure you run the risk of burning your valves but I don't think your exhaust is that free flowing.

don't bust my *** if this is bad for your car - but stick a wad of steel wool in your exhaust pipe and try driving around. if you notice more power, that means you don't have enough backpressure from that exhaust pipe. The exhaust system must be tuned to the motor, not just "the bigger the better"
the exhaust gas resonates and pulses in the properly tuned pipe/header and creates a vacuum which almost sucks the exhaust out of the cylinders and out of the pipe. If the pipe is too big, the resonation frequency is off and there is no suction and the exhaust doesn't flow out the pipe correctly.
Different cams could cause more exhaust valve lift which might help the resonation effect more but I could be wrong. Bigger exhaust pipes are better suited for turbos, not NA cars.
someone care to elaborate on this plz do...

The ws2 exhaust is one of the best systems on the market for improving BOTH HP and TQ numbers. you are gaining power but im sure its limited beings your ecu is probably untuned. get it tuned to maximize the mods you have made to your setup
