losing oil when revving hard on EK civic hatch.
I have a 1996 honda civic cx with a d16y7 engine with 220,000kms. from the time i bought it, i would have to put a 1 litre of oil every 2,500km's. when i tap the gas too hard at around 6,000rpm it starts puffing smoke, looks to me that it is a whitish blueish color.
the car recently got a timing belt and valve cover gasket and grommets replaced. oil pan gasket seems to be moist around the edges when i inspected it.
before i assume that my rings are shot, could the problem be caused by a bad valve guide or seals and also the oil pan gasket leaking or pcv valve?
i have a compression tester so i'm going to start with that and get the results tomorrow.
what else should i assume before the rings?

if the smoke is coming out of your exhaust, it could be rings.
it could be the valve cover breather - oil can go out of there and into your intake at high RPMs.

I have got the same problem. My y7 burns ALOT of oil. I think it's the rings. I have used several tricks to stop this **** and ended up with no results at all. So i'm guessing new rings or a new engine (a d16z6 swap will cost the same as the labour for new rings over here) is the solution for me.
But if anyone here has got any ideas on how to stop burning oil, please help (us both).
