i cannot figure out what could the problem be , ive replace the bushing that goes around the ball on the shifter but it stills swings side to side alot ..

The shaft that comes out of the tranny, where the Linkage slides on. Do you have a bolt slid through that with a nut on the other side? If so this will cause the shifter to be loose and flop around even when its in gear. If you have done the bolt with nut method. The cure is to do it the "right way" and use the "Spring Pin"(IE: Bitch Pin).

chances are no one has messed with it and it needs to be ground out and replaced with a bolt and nut, also good luck finding that bushing i had a hell of a time looking for one and had to jerry rig one up with sum washers

this is a different problem when you have ALOT of side to side play in the shifter

your shifter bushings can be in great shape but still have side to side play if the spring pin does not fit snug into the shaft

i have this problem too and i have my spring pin in. the only way i thought of remedying it was to boring it out to a larger diameter and using a nut/bolt like stated above

then do so with a nut/bolt then..it will work with that method..what ever floats your boat..i had the same prob..sloppy shifter side to side movment and i bought this kit and installed it and it took the slop away..if it dont work then do so with the nut/bolt setup

not too much involved w/ the shifter assembly...probably did a half *** job putting it back together. Mine had lots of play side to side and up and down. Got the basic energy poly shifter bushings from an auto-parts store and the other oem bushings that hold the shifter ball in place from honda. Both sets cheap cheap cheap, and shifting is buttery smooth. Go back thru and double check your work.

i bought the car with this problem . im most likely gonna do both ways , since it does look like the shifter needs new bushing anyways .
