looking for power
I've got a 95 Civic EX with a D16Z6 and I'm wondering what else i can do to gain some more horses. I have a cai, header, exhaust, and intake manifold. my next move was throttle body or cam. will a d16y8 cam fit a d16z6?

Not much. You can put a Y8 cam in there and I do believe the duration is a bit longer, but it's not worth it power wise.
This is pretty much the end of the line, from here it's either boost or start sinking money into all motor parts such as internals, a better cam, etc.

i've tried to go down that path and it just seems like more money than i'm willing to throw at it. I've gone on the start towards that already with buying a GSR tranny and looking up buying a B16A2 long block, but after that i'd still need the shift linkage, the ecu, the mounts, the wiring harness possibly, and the install. and if there are miscellaneous parts missing, i have to go on a hunt to find them. I appreciate the thought though.

This is precisely why people buy complete swaps from a companies known to do well in that regard.

Time to check out http://www.turbod16.com or http://www.d-series.org
You need boost my friend. stop wasting your money. There was another thread about this same topic the other day.
Give up, save your money for a turbo set up.
You can get 200whp out of stock internals for little money.
If you put the y8 cam in a z6 you will need the cam gear too. It's been talked about on the other sites.
The 59300 works well with a turbo but you don't need it for low hp.

Build the motor for all NA or low boost turbo. Going turbo at a low psi will give you good gains and can still be a daily driven car more or less you won't have to put in half the amount of money you would going all motor.
Although nothing is like an all motor car

Re: (1992Si)
problem comes with complete swaps is they leave complete-ly broke. a b16a2 is around 2k. i'm not lookin for a bunch more power, i'm just lookin to add a bit here and there and prove that an n/a d series can put some numbers to the ground, it's not the number of cams or the displacement it's what you do with, that's the way i see it. call me dumb or what not, i don't really give a s#!+, i just wanna see what my baby can do

One thing that often gets overlooked when considering different upgrade paths is that a swap will you OEM Honda build quality and OEM Honda reliability. This is something that can't be said for the vast majority of modified D series setups running around.
As for proving anything, It's been proven long ago and many times over that the D has tons of potential given the right circumstances. I can completely respect almost anyone's decision to opt for a D setup as opposed to the other options.

right now i'm lookin for a stage 1, or 2 cam that will fit and when i finish with the setup for the all motor, i may just go to boost, i mean, this isn't a daily driver it's for fun, i've got an 03 passat for a daily, so while my civic sits in the garage, i have time to change things here and there and not worry if it's running all the time or not
