Default Looking for part(s) for this engine P2A-6??

Hello honda-techers, I'm trying to look for an engine head gasket for my honda 1996 sedan, but i'm confused by the many part no. that i found on the web. My car was an EJ6 auto SO4, MF616 was engraved on certain part the engine body, with another number engraved "P2A-6" on it and another number "96" on the right side corner of the engine.

So, if i found a replacement part with no. like "11251-P2A-014" (the "-P2A-" indicate engine no. right/wrong?) will it fit into my engine? What if the part no. like "11251-P2F-A01"?

Most website just says a particular part fit "HONDA CIVIC 1996 DX/EX/or whatever, 2/3/4 door, sedan/coupe/hatch, but don't mention engine no. or type...

Can anyone enlighten me on this?

the engine code is engraved on the front of the block on the left right next to the tranny example d16z6, b18b, d16y8 etc etc I would get that number first and then look for a hg for whatever engine it is instead of by year make model and trim

Er. Yeah. Location: sandakan, sabah, malaysia
The engine looks like a D16Y7 equivalent. Kinda like the non-VTEC D15B.

Guys, OP is in Malaysia. Some Malaysian-market Hondas don't have the standard engine stamps. The engine stamp actually is MF616.

OP, it looks like you have a non-vtec block. I would contact your local dealership to make sure you're getting the correct gasket. I would also buy it through them. A head gasket is a critical part of the engine - you should be using OEM.

It is, but I also have a friend in Malaysia who I have helped with his old Civic I'm familiar with the MF616. As soon as I saw the engine stamp, I looked for the location. It's pretty much like any other non-vtec D16Yx. If I remember correctly, the closest motor my friend and I could come up with was the D16Y4.

you're right jbpnoman, it's a non-vtec. I definitely would love to have an OEM part, but i couldn't get it in malaysia. That's why i would like know if there is other alternative, like you mention the D16Y4 engine's gasket(s). Will it fit into the MF616 engine?

There has to be a dealer near you. Malaysia isn't that big.

You should buy an OEM head gasket. Like I said, it's a critical part of the engine. If you buy something sub-par, you'll just be replacing it again in the near future. Do it right, do it once. I'm not saying have the dealership do the work for you, I'm saying buy the head gasket kit from them.

i'll try with honda dealer(s) in malaysia. From their website, there is no mention of selling/showing any gasket... anyway, will try to call them up.
