I'm driving a 1993 honda civic EJ1. it's my daily driver and I want it to put me back in my seat. I'm not looking for 300 Whp but I want some snap. what engine and slights mods would be what I'm looking for.

Its gonna take a lot of money to get some snap out of your 1.5. You should probably consider a swap. Or you could look into boost options. Either of the two will cost you a bit.

cheapest and easiest way is to boost. if you're not looking for more than 300whp then no need to swap. do a mild engine build, buy a quality turbo kit, or even better yet do some research and build your own. Definitely spend some $$$ on tuning. Tuning should be your main focus.

not d-series fan, but it can definitely be done. Good luck

I might be putting in a 1.6 that i have which will just drop in. What would you consider a Mid-engine build? i'm asuming it would be to avoid blowing.

if you boost that engine in there now the way it is im going to laugh at you.
just go to like a b16 or sumthin. very cheap and very straight forward swap. by the way i think there are other write-ups on here from others looking for answers to the same question

There's no reason why you could mild build with a turbo. just because it's a D series. I could just do a mini me. Another question about boosting it. if done, I will need to tune it. Will i need to buy a whole ECU like a hondata or could I just get a piggy back that would cover what I'd need.

a mild build would be upgrading your valvetrain (valves, retainers, springs, cam, etc etc) so that it will be able to take the abuse from you beating the **** out of the car. your stock bottom end can withstand up to 230whp (thats being generous). um im not sure about that piggy backing stuff..but where ever you take the car to be tuned just use whatever the tuner suggests or uses. you should definitely read into this alot more cause you dont sound like you have done this before.

yes. the swap has seemed to come up. But the D16z6 isn't really that bad. why not slight build that. how much HP can be acheived with it for a couple thousand?

how much is a couple?? 2k?? for $2500 you could possibly have the entire motor built, atleast down here in NY i know a couple shops that would do it for that much but i also know them personally. but with a 2k budget you could have your head built with a little extra cash for tuning.

I can build my own engine. I know and can rebuild my won engine. And I have a spocership With Brian Crower. SO... I shouldn't need a shop's help because I could do most myself.

well thats awesome, youll save ALOT by doing it yourself..but tuning i highly recommend going to someone who does it professionally.

well that's where my school comes in. I'm in a tuning school and the instructures will help you tune on saterdays. start in augest so that when this mo jo will go down.

There is absolutely no need to go B series. Take the d16 you already have and put in rods, pistons, and a qualit bearing set. The stock d16z6 head is capable of 300+whp. I have a b16 with nearly all bolt ons in my current hatch, and my previous boosted d16 would blow the doors of my car any day, anywhere, any conditions. Run 9:1 compression and a straight T3 at about 12lbs for decent spool time with power till redline and you will run 12s. DO RESEARCH i know its easiest to get on here and just ask people, i do it all the time. However, you will learn so much by heading into the forced induction thread and by making use of the search function on this site.

actually 300whp can be reached from a boosted d15b7. is it worth it? proly not. 300whp would be attained much easier with the d16

what's cheap for someone, might not be cheap for someone else. all depends on how hard u look and who u know. But if you know what you're doing and you've done your research, boosting a d series can be considerably cheaper than going b series.
