I keep saying this; How is someone supposed to WRITE what an exhaust sounds like AND how do we know what is quiet to you? This thread is asked at least once weekly with the same answers. Go on Youtube and look for soundclips for starters.
Here is the link to the OFFICIAL: Exhaust video sound clip thread started back in '05.

It was last updated in '07 so I think we need to possibly keep it current and add to it.
Here are search results for all the "best" exhausts.

Here's one for the "quietest".

Depending if you want to spend the money, WS2 are decent sounding but not cheap. Yonaka makes a copy of it much cheaper, sounds pretty good too.

I had a vibrant exhaust when i first bought my car and got pulled over 3-4 times in the first week!!! I do live in VA, but still, hahaha!! I now have a magnaflow with a high flow cat, it def doesnt have the same power it once did. But with no noise ordinance tickets I can live with that. Now I dont mean it doesnt have power, you can just tell its not wide open, after I added the high flow cat it really fixed that prob!

If you aren't worried too much about the price. I ended up getting a walker 2 3/8" midpipe with a 2.5" carsound cat and a mugen twin loop. Car sounds awesome. Nooo raspy sound and very mellow on the highway until you get on it.

I love my yonaka, got it hella cheap too. Its almost too quiet for my tastes, but im okay with that, better than the other way around. Seems to be quieter than my stocker, but has a better tone.

Thrush Turbo muffler. Take it to an exhaust shop and have it welded on. $60 total, good quiet sound, and a great purr when you lay into it.

Re: looking for a highflow quiet exhaust...help?
I too am on the quest for a quiet, high flow system. Currently running an h23a engine with ITR trans, so I was hoping to run a pretty large exhaust.
Logic Tri-Y header, 2.5" collector
2.5" 300 cell vibrant metal core cat (essential for keeping a car quiet'ish)
2.5" mandrel bent piping
18" stainless vibrant resonator
and because my thermal muffler didn't fit and I can't get ahold of thermal, I decided to call flowmaster.
Spoke with a rep for 20 mins on the phone, (super cool guy, great service)
We concluded that:
http://www.amazon.com/Hushpower-1251...3542122&sr=8-1
is going to be the best bet.
I'll record a before and after mounting my camera on my rear windshield. Right now my car is breaking 94Db at autocross events, which is flippin' loud. But OEM mufflers nowadays have 0 sound absorption material. Several of the hondas I found on YouTube sound great with this muffler:

Hello, you can weld a muffler or you go to a company that does it for you. Then you can change the volume through the built-in or finished middle silencer and rear silencer.
Or:
At this time i have under my Del Sol Turbo a Tanabe Concept G. Maybe you can find such a exhaust-system from a other Turbo Car with the right piping size and you costumize it for your Honda.

I had this muffler on a previous build. It was great for about 3 months, then it got a little louder around town and had an annoying drone at highway RPMs. I would reccomend it if it weren't for the drone.

Got the muffler installed. Sounds a LOT better. It's probably a hair quieter, but a much cleaner tone.
I've already recorded my driving with the old muffler, will make another tomorrow with the new.

Both videos have a ton of wind noise, I tried to make a video but after hearing all of the wind it's really not easy to hear the difference. The exhaust note is absolutely better, and questionably quieter.
Probably springing for a vibrant ultra-quiet resonator in the coming weeks.

Re: looking for a highflow quiet exhaust...help?
Just to add - I have a stock D16Y7 in my '97 LX, and just installed a Magnaflow cat-back (with 2.25" tubing) with the resonator and muffler.
My initial thoughts is that it's not much louder than OEM (which mine replaced), but has a deeper tone that's noticeable when you give it some gas. Cruising with the windows up makes it pretty quiet, but even with the windows down, it's really not annoyingly loud or buzzy. We'll see how it is once it starts to be broken in more. I think with a loud enough intake, you probably wouldn't hear much from the exhaust.
I've had exhausts like that on other cars (my old Miata had an Ansa system that sounded amazing, but got buzzy and droned on the highway), so I understand what you're looking for.
The butt dyno says maybe there's an extra pound or two of torque, but it wasn't a dramatic increase.

Re: looking for a highflow quiet exhaust...help?
It was on a 1.9L DOHC, so there may be some differences.
As far as full exhausts go, I'd like to chime in on the yonaka. I was considering one for a while, they seem to sound good in videos and are very cheap for a non-ebay exhaust. I'm still on the fence whether to go with the yonaka for my current turbo build or an OEM muffler from a WRX or other factory turbo car with 200+ whp. It needs to be very quiet, as I deliver pizzas until 2am on the weekends in this car. I'd be interested if anyone could post video of the yonaka's sound, especially if the car is turbocharged.

Im running a 08 Civic Si OEM Exhaust on my 2000 EK Sedan, wanted the same thing OP wanted. Found it ffor a steal and its been good to me ever since. MEGAN makes a muffler OE something i believe, i e heard good things about it performance wise and exhaust note wise
