Looking At a Del Sol DOHC VTEC
Pretty simple. Its a 94 del sol w/ the dohc b16. Its got 160,XXX clicks on it. The body is in really good shape for that many miles, no rust, one spot thats fadded on the back pillar coming down from the roof, and 2 like 3" chips on the front bumper. Its lowered w/ skunk 2 coilovers, black rotas (spoon replicas) wilwood front brakes, generic short ram and cat back exhaust. It also has two mugen seats in it. Very sexy, very comfy. I took the car for a ride and pulled fine threw all gears and wasnt making any bad noises.
He is has it in the paper for 6, got him down to 5, but i still think thats way too much. How much do you think its worth? I'm mainly going to use for a daily driver cuz my WRX gets *** for gas mileage. And i think it would be just a fun lil cruisin car cuz the top comes off and rear window opens. Its like a lil two person go-kart lol. So what do ya all think, good buy? Too much? lemme know, thanks!

Daily driven? Are you crazy, you need to turn it into a crotch rocket! j/k 160k is a little high but it would be a nice car to start with, came with the b16a3, and would be a great car to tune.

Yeah, i was also thinkin more so around 4. I know thats hella milage, i'm actually from WI, and its private dealer.
I owned a 96 GSR before this, now i own a 03 WRX, but i dont know much about the Del Sol's motor. What are the main differences between this B16a3 and the B16a1 found in the 99-00 Si's? Prolly a dumb question but thanks.

Your b16a3 obd1 99-00 SI b16a2 obd2
I say if you could get the private seller to lower the price even more, buy it then rebuild the engine, at the end you would've spent about $5,500-7,500 for a dohc delso with a 0 miles, good deal?

that is correct, theres no b16a1, its just the b16a, it's what I have, 1st gen, a2 is 2nd gen, a3 is 3rd gen
Did the car come out the factory with the B, or was it a swap???
If it is the B w/ 166,xxx miles on it, definitely get him down on the price, my opinion.

Real Mugen seats are almost 1k a pc. So anywhere from 5k-6k for that Sol is a good price!

Actually 94-95 Del Sol VTEC/SiR came with B16A3's stock from OEM Honda. 99-00 Civic Si's have B16A2's...

Re: Looking At a Del Sol DOHC VTEC (TegraGsR)
I think it sounds like a good car to buy. A quick little check under the oil cap can let you know alot about the oil service in the car. Good oil at regular 3K changes should show no brown tarnish or build-up. A lot of build-up/dark brown coating would mean long periods between changes, or crappy oil used often.
The cool things about the factory DOHC Vtec Del sols is that they are fairly rare to find.... therefore, they can be worth more than a civic or teg even in some peoples eyes. Good daily driver for sure!

definately go for it, i know they say modifications dont bring up the price but if they are REAL mugen seats....yeah. not to mention slipstreams are cool and wildwood brakes? thats a good deal imo, i just bought a s trim 94 sol for like 2500, no mods. go for it.

Re: Looking At a Del Sol DOHC VTEC (TegraGsR)
I would try to talk him down, everybody knows that when you put X amount of dollars into a car, you don't raise the selling price X amount of dollars. Nice seats I'm sure, but that's a lot of money for 160k miles.
I paid 3k for my vtec, and it's got 116k which I still consider high mileage. Admittadly, mine has a screwed up trunk and the hood is all dented, but still. Throw the blue book at him, that kind of mileage destroys the value. Additionally, the car has been ragged on, and you both know it, you think he bought that intake and exhaust to ferry his grandmother to sewing class? I don't either.
