Looking to buy a hatch...
I'm looking to buy a '96 hatch off a buddy of mine, but i'm having trouble convincing my dad that the the price im being asked is anywhere near how much the car is worth. The car has a b18c swap with 40k miles which is where the value comes from. All he is saying is that I should pay no more than kbb.com value for it, but theres no way to tell the kbb.com value of a hatch with a motor swap. Any ideas on how much I should pay?

It really depends on what the condition of the car is like. If he did the swap, if he had it done, if the car is mechanically sound, etc... If the car is in near mint condition, then go for it, but I suggest getting a stock car and doing everything yourself. Youll pay alot more, but in the end, its worth it. Youll know what you did and if anything goes wrong, youll know how to fix it. Just my .02.

The guy is asking $6500 for it, and it is basically a stock, except the motor of course. I'm only 16 and looking for a bit of a project/learning experience. A buddy of mine owns the shop that did all the work on the car... swap ect... and he thinks I should go for it. I just dont want to pay too much and still have some convincing to do as far as parents go.

If you are lookinf for learning experience and a project then buy a car without a swap. That way you will learn a lot about the car and can make sure everything is done the right way.
Also $6500 is way too much for a 96 civic with a b18c....maybe more like $4500 or $5000 MAX.
