Default locking up the rear wheels

If you pull hard on the ebrake and your rear wheels lock up and skid, does it do any damage to the rear suspension? or does it just wear down the tires?

also, same question applies to when you make a turn and during the turn, you pull ebrake to whip the rear around or slide it out. any damage that will happen or just worn tires?

A guy I know broke something in his suspension, like an axle or something, when sliding around. I can't remember.

done properly and in a safe enviornment I don't see why you would run to any problems besides possibly wasting tire tread...but u have to learn how to apply the ebrake.. you can't just pull it all the way up and expect it to let u rotate the rear end in a controlled way...

yea, i know you cant just yank on it and expect it to go where you want it. just wanted to know if anything could break or has been known to break when doing this

the parking brake cable mechanism and fittings are not designed to take the stresses of repeated yanks at speed to full lockup.

the system is designed to maintain a stopped position after parking.

beware you could snap a cable, have it wrap around a rear wheel and tear out many brake components along the wayand end up a VERY expensive repair job.
I have seen this happen on two cars, not Hondas, but still I believe the premise is the same here, with Hondas as well.

beware, you are asking for it man, really bad mojo when a rear brake sticks or the cable snaps at speed.
just a heads up for ya.

Actually it is an Emergency Brake, It is designed to stop you if your brakes fail. It is however not built for repeated use for Drifting

I have a friend who uses this technique when autocrossing to get the rear-end of his car to whip out a bit in the turns. However, he lightly applies the e-brake while giving gas in the corner to make it swing around a bit, and then lets off once the car corners around the turn. I've got a video of him doing it somewhere and placing 1st or 2nd in his class.

I suppose if you can practice with it and get the feel of how much pressure to apply to just get the rear to swing out a bit in a turn it could be helpful, but you can't just go full bore and yank on the e-brake, you're bound to break something doing that.

That's nice... the rest of us will buy big rear swaybars and stiff springs/shocks to get that effect.

You'll wear out your ebrake system really fast doing goofy **** like that.
