Locking Safety Feature
As we all know our driver side doors have a safety feature so that you can not lock the door while the door is open. The only two ways around this that I have found is by closing the door and locking it, or by pulling the door handle and locking the door while the handle is "engaged". This is a great idea and such, however I just bought a AutoLoc universal door lock system for my car (installed and it works like a DREAM) and its a central locking system, (means both doors lock/unlock together) and if I have my door open and my girlfriend gets out and locks her door its going to lock my door, however its not going to lock because of that safety thing. I was wondering if anyone knows how to disengaged that safety, or if I could find the locking mechanism from another civic (passenger side) and put it on my driver side.
Thanks in advance, any help is use-full.

Re: Locking Safety Feature (jlacoy82)
You can't get around it. It's a mechanical feature that won't let the lock engage when the closure isn't engaged (door striker closed).
The passenger side door mechanism is different, but you wouldn't be able to put that onto the drivers side, because the box would be backwards.

^^what about taking out the drivers side and "fixing" the part that wont let you lock it?^^

^^ the point isn't that their preventing me from locking my keys out, its that if someone locks the passenger side my side locks.. and if my doors open its going to ******* something up (either the actuators or the locking rods). Therefore if i can make it so it "wont prevent me from locking my keys out" I wont have to worry about screwing up my locking system. thanks tho
