Locking Lug nuts stripped....What should I do?
My 98 civic has 1 locking lugnut on each wheel and I dont have the key. When I looked at them more I can tell there are stripped so it wouldnt matter if i had the key anyway. I have tried everything and cant get them off. Any ideas?

i did read it and i know exactly what he means...theres a size that slips right over the locking lug nut, then get the size right under that and beat the socket until it goes over the nut and then it comes off easy as hell

easiest way and most effective is to loosen all the other lugs and then drive around the block, it will brake the lug and then you are good to replace it with another one.

Re: (BALLIN H22 EK)
your basically slamming a smaller socket over the lugnut, and likely to waste a socket. but its probabli worth the money to waste that and get it removed.

Re: (lemon_juice)
so basically u are wastin 4 sockets just to get off ur lugnuts when u could go to a rime and tire shop and do it for like 5 to 10 bucks..... sounds kinda dumb to me

no i dont waste it...it ruins the lugnut...but after i get the lugnut off i put it in my vice and put a screwdriver down the square that the ratchet goes in and give it a couple good hits and it comes out

purchase a 12pt socket thats not too expensive and take them out. you can use one for all 4 because lock lug is round its dont really going to tear up all the teeth inside. you can just hammer out the lock lug out of the socket with a screw driver.

I work at Pep Boys, and they have a socket set made espescially to take off locking lug nuts. We used it on a customer's ride, and it worked well.

try wd40 and try it again. If that doesn't work try to hammer a socket on but be warned you might brake the wheel stud and it will just spin around and you will have to cut it off and that's a b!tch.

had it do this on mine, worked like a charm. and go get a craftsman socket to do it with. then take it back and replace it with a new one for free. sears is not allowed to ask why or what you did.
