location of ecu in civic EX 5sp '92 (after reading faq!)
 

I am not sure whether I have located the ecu or not, this is what I see on the passenger side kick panel http://www.tcd.ie/Microbiology...u.gif
If this is the unit, I would imagine I have to remove the 2 bolts to remove the bracket. Am I right?

you've got it. besure that you are disconnect the battery; before you are working with eclectronics or unplug the ecu. there are four bolts holding that ecu. just loosen the back two and remove the front two.

Yeah, that sure looks like it. They usually have a bracket on them, either to hold the wiring harness or to hold the actual ecu in place. I don't have a 92-95 civic, but on my 96 the ecu is in the exact same place.

Thank you both for your help. I had this check engine light came up a few months ago, the car has about 120K miles on it, have had no other problems except I had to change the master relay a while back. If I use the car in the mornings it will come on after about 10-15 minutes of driving (not dependent on the miles travelled), stop and restart it might again take about the same length of time. I notice that when the weather is damp and/or humid the time to get the cel is shortened. I suspect something to do with distributor cap, may be humidity getting in? I have replaced the lamda sensor and the map sensor, the body of the distributor is replaced from another civic (unfortunately the cap broke in transit) so it has the old cap. So I will give it a go with ecu code and wil post it (hopefully).
