Default Little D16z6 help *Searched*

I need some help here. I have a built d16 (Sleeved, pistons, rods etc) and Im going to be using Honda bearings for it. Now my engine builder told me for my Main and Rod bearings they had to be 2000th clearance. So I went to my Honda dealer and they only come color coded. Something like red, blue and black. Now if I remember this correctly they are the blue ones....right?

I know this question is hard to understand but its the best I can do. Any help would be apperciated.

you cant just say that one set will fit etc, what you need to do is measure the outside diameter of your crank journals, measure each one separately as they are all different, and make sure you take 2 readings 90 degrees apart from each other, then do the same for the inside diameter of your rods and block. from there you can calculate based on the desired oil thickness.

see this thread:

https://honda-tech.com/forums/forced-induction-16/honda-bearing-color-thickness-chart-everyone-who-loves-using-oem-bearings-715505/

DO NOT DO THIS IF YOU ARE UNSURE!!! if you are confused at all do not do this, have your engine builder find everything out, if you mess this up say by by to your engine.

Your engine builder should know what to get, how to hone them down if needed. I trusted my builder to be able to do all this, plus give me a blueprint of the tolerances and torque specs.

i ran into the same problem, even with the engine serial number honda could not tell me what bearings to use. i was told to pull the bearings to find the color code. none off my bearings still had the paint on them so i had to mic the crank as mentioned above.

you cant use the engine codes because you have aftermarket rods, not to mention that im sure the crank has worn some too. the only way to do it is use a very good micrometer and calculate the correct size.

My engine builder would like to see two thousands clearance on the mains and rods. I looked at some write ups and I think blue is the correct range for that clearance, but I was wondering if that is correct?

if you provide acurate measurements of all the rod and block ID's and the crank OD's we can help you but we can not say what you need unsless you tell us. to be honest, bring it back to your engine builder and have him figure it out, show him this thread and the one i linked to and he should get it.
