Limp Mode? Need help asap :(
Car: 1994 Civic (vx) with H22a jdm 2.2L vtec i/h/e and p28ecu with chrome basemaps and 2step
Situation: Was at the drag strip, ran 4 times, perfect, parked, shut car off, went back in 10 mins, and car was driving like it was losing fuel. If i floor it, it wont rev past 4k, and if i drive normal, it wont go past 2500rpms. The CEL is not on and a paper clip wont show me codes now. I pluged in a stock p13, same issue, it wont drive normal, and also I unpluged the resistor box and drove it, made no difference.
Could the resistor box make this happen? and what would cause it to go bad? any other ideas?
please help asap thanks alot everyone.
also, all the belts and everything are fine. car drives fine up until 2500rpms where it cuts fuel until idle and then its normal again. I can drive as long as i dont go above 2500.

Re: Limp Mode? Need help asap :(
does your check engine light come on at all? (key on, engine off) it should luminate until the fuel pump relay kicks in
If it doesnt....
1. check all your fuses under the dash, I know one of them is integrated into the CEL light.
2. check your bulb for that.
From what I've seen in the past, there has to be SOME code in order for it to go into limp mode.

when i do the key on, engine off, yes it comes on until fuel pump kicks in then it goes off, but it should be on because i already had a CEL for #7 tps. will tps cause it to go into limp? I will check my distributor and fuses.

Re: Limp Mode? Need help asap :(
When my roommate got his H22 it was in limp mode because of the knock sensor. I doubt it's the temperature sensor, it's on the tranny side of the motor next to the hoses. And the knock sensor is on the back of the engine under the intake manifold.

the ect (engine coolant temp sensor) is above the trans.... HOWEVERRRRRRR
ect failure will cause this: absolute SHITTTY cold starts. if it can't read the temp there before the car starts it automatically thinks your like in some -20 weather. lol trust me been there done that. just fixed that sensor on my LS...

Re: Limp Mode? Need help asap :(
unplugging the TPS fixed it! The TPS was bad so it threw it into limp mode, but after unplugging it, it just threw a check engine light, but drives normal =] Just gotta put a new TPS on tomorrow!
