lightweight wheels
I was just wondering how much of a difference lightweight wheels make on qrt. mile times. Right now I have ITR wheels on my 93 CX hatch which weigh about 11 or 12 pounds. I am thinking about getting some Spoons which weigh about 8.5 pounds. When I am finished with my car it should have at least 235 whp. Is it worth spending $1500+ getting the spoons or should I just save the money and keep the ITR wheels? Will it make that much difference?

Re: lightweight wheels (93VTEChatch)
are u sure itr rims are only 11-12lbs? if so then but i have always thought they were in the 14-16lb range?
i dont know how much difference going from 12lbs to 9lbs is, but going from 18lb steelies to my 12lb rotas made a pretty big difference in my braking. i didn't feel like i could get and go that much quicker but i did feel i could brake a lot nicer.

the reason for the discrepancy is that there is more than one type r wheel

Yeah, USDM ITR wheels are NOT 11-12lbs.
More like 15lbs.-16lbs.
If you do end up getting 8.5lb. wheels, then you're saving a total of 28.4 lbs. or so.
Just the weight savings alone will make a difference, but that's also ROTATING weight you've lost, so that will be very noticable for sure.
