legal/smog issues regarding B20 swap in 92 hatch
hey guys, so I have a 92 hatch that I have extensively modded. Have a B20V and S80 tranny, Cold-Air, Full tein suspension, full apexi exhaust, Neptune tuned pushing 178 whp and 139 ft/lbs. My issue that I am having is trying to register the vehicle with smog. I also got pulled over recently (profiling pigs!!!) and was written up for emissions bypass systems and referred to the referee. How can i go about getting around this....any ideas? Live in California Bay Area btw. Any help would be greatly appreciated!!! Thank you, Sean.

B20 cannot be in any compact car, period.
Why? It's from a Utility Vehicle and you can't cross swap platforms like that.
How to get around it ? Pay the fee ranging from $300-$500 or swap it out to a SOHC that'll pass smog.

would registering in a non-urban county (few or zero smog restrictions) be an option? Would registering in Nevada be an option?

That is an option, if you can I would. If a cop ever asks you what are you doing in CA say Vacation.
I know a few guys with RHDs that register out of state so CA police officers can't mess with them.
