Default Leaking Omni-Power Test Pipe??????

Just put a new header and Omni-Power test pipe on my em1. Initially, i got a smell of exhaust every now and then, and just figured, "just took the cat out, so that explains the smell." went to change my oil the other day, and noticed carbon build up on the outside of the pipe, where the sections slip together. Just wondering if I was supposed to get this thing welded, or if anyone else has had this problem?

I did get i welded, that wasn't the point of the post, *******. Point is, has anyone had problems with these test pipes leaking, cause they aren't supposed to. Anyone who isn't a cyber tough guy have something useful to say?
