Leaking from Heater Core, Coolant in cabin? Do i need a new heater core?
Well i took my whole car apart this summer and stripped it and put it all back together. The problem was when i took out my heater core earlier, i was dumb and crushed the thin pipes which coonect through the firewall to the motor. I tried to straighten them back out with pliers but it was never as straight as before. When i first cranked my motor back up with coolant in it and with the heater hoses connected to the heater core, it was leaking from there. I tightened up the heater hoses by tightening up the clamps extrememly, and it stopped leaking. Now though, i noticed inside my cabin under my floor mats that there was coolant all on there and under my passenger seat. Has this happened to anyone? Do you guys thing i need a new heater core or just better heater hoses?

Im thinking because you tightened it down extremely you could have cracked it from the inside. Take off the hose that you tightened and see if you see any cracks or anything of that nature. I think that piece is replacible, give me a min.

Exact same thing happened to my friends car from crushing the ends of the pipes through the firewall when doing a swap. He hung his carpet up for a couple days to drain the coolant out and replaced the heater core and problem solved.
