leakdown test results, help!!
hey, i've just attempted to do a leakdown test using my DIY effort that i made but i think i need a restrictor in the airline to get proper readings...
however.. i can hear air escaping through the filler cap & dispstick tube on all cylinders, about the same amount of air escaping by the sounds of it..
should i hear anything at all coming from the crankcase? i know that the rings will always leak a little, even on new engines but it is usually enough to actually hear it? or is it a case of "if you can hear it, the rings are likely shot!" ??
cheers.
(btw, all the cylinders are reading a 2% - 4% leakage, but as i said i think my DIY tester isn't working as it should just now

If you can here it from the dipstick then it's your rings....normal.
Can you hear anything from your intake or exhaust side? Because then your valves are leaking and that's worse.
