Default Leak in 96-00 Hatch

Hello, fellow H-t members,

Recently I have had my passengers complain about my 97 Civic CX hatchback, having really wet seats, and i have found it very very akward, since I don't carry any items in the back. I got curious and touched the seat and it was wet. So then came the teardown process, I took everything out of my car, since i had amps and stuff in the back, i wouldnt want any water gettin into my amp. Under my seats were a pile of water, and then the piece of thin wood in the trunk area has totally warped from the water. The spare tire was like a bucket when i took it out. My main concern is the fact that it mite cause the floors to rot. I have a few areas I feel maybe the cause, such as the area just under the tail light, which has a little hole which goes to the outside, or this little plus i found near the spare tire. If anyone has any advice it be much appreciated.

Thank you,
pix will come soon, once day light hits.

Chances are it's your tail light gaskets. They're like $3 - $5 each at Honda.

Go get em, tiger.

read in another post were a guy said to have a friend sit in the car a look for leaks while you pressure wash the outside around the seals... sounds good to be but best of luck all the same...

Damnit, the leak came back, I have no clue where its from. I have changed the tail light gaskets since my previous post and when I used a hose to test it, no water went into the car. But when It rained last nite the whole nite, i woke up to a little pond in my hatch. Any suggestions? I need this fixed asap, could there be an area I must reseal of some sort???

It could be your weather stripping around the hatch that is bad, check it out.
