Is this a drivers side axle? What motor do you have? Anyway, from the pictures, it looks like I can see a midshaft in the background, which leads me to believe that you took out the axle and midshaft off a b-series motor. And you obviously have purchased an axle for a d-series motor there . (Being unequal length and all.)

ALso the comment about removing 3 bolts to remove the axle. Yeah, i definetly think you bought the wrong axle guy.

If you have a 92-00 civic, buy 94-00 integra axles.

It's hard to explain all this to someone that hasn't seen both axles, but basically, civic axles are not as good as integra axles, they use smaller inner joints and they use unequal lenth shafts. Meaning that the drivers side is much longer than the passengers side, which is cheap to manufacure, but bad for equal tire wear, etc, etc. Anyway, the b-series motors that came in the integras and civic si's came with a 2 piece drivers side axle. There is the mid-shaft that bolts to the back of the block(by 3 bolts), and then the female inner joint of the axle slides onto that.

The drivers side and passengers side axles are about the same length in these cars, much closer than d-series civics.

I hope that helps, IM me if you have more questions.

Yeah you got a sohc axle. When they give you the new axle, most likely you will have to reuse the intermediate shaft(the thing with the three bolts on it).

people, it's a 2000 Si = B16 = equal length drive axles + center halfshaft.

You were correct in saying 2000 Civic Si... but next time specify that you have the DOHC VTEC engine. The guy's computer terminal may have had an option for 2000 Civic w/ 1.6L DOHC VTEC, but it may not have said Si on there. So when you said Si he might have just thought normal Civic. Oh well, take it back and get the right one.

Yeah..looks like a D series..but just one thing. The reason that the manual didnt tell you to unbolt the 3 bolts was because you dont have to take the whole intermediate shaft off, you can just pop the axle out of the intermediate shaft. That is what I meant in the other post about how one axle has a male end and one axle has a female end(drivers side). Good luck tomorrow bro..

ok, they are trying to rebuilt the axle now.... did i make a mistake taking off the intermediate shaft, or can i just put it back on as usual when i get it back?

Well normally when you take an axle out of the tranny (differential), you have to drain the tranny fluid to keep it from spilling out. On a B-series engine if you're only changing the left side axle, you don't have to drain anything because you just remove the axle from the intermediate shaft. If nothing spilled out when you took that center shaft out, then just stick it back in. Check your tranny fluid level, though, to make sure it's not low.

For now, take that intermediate shaft and put it back on the car. It just slides right into the differential and bolts up to the block (easier to take off or install than the axle itself). That way you only have to hoist that axle up into place instead of the entire axle/shaft assembly (heavy!!).

And why didn't you just exchange that long axle for the correct one? Is someone rebuilding the one that broke?

yeah they rebuilt it, its back on the car now... i didnt have to move the rotor or anything, i just manuevered the axle and snapped it back in place.. itwas very easy.. thanks guys!! i just need to adjustthe coilover b/c i put it all the way down b/c it was easier to take off the shock tower... hmm
