Larger throttle body = lagging engine?
I have a 64mm throttle body on a b16a2. The motor is stock, with only exhaust. Currently there's no intake box on the throttle body (as I'm finding a tube that works with 64mm size). But the engine lags real hard (slower than a d-series) and this is with the short geared 4.785 JDM ITR tranny. Could too much air and not enough fuel be the issue - due to the throttle body size and no intake box be the cause? It seems like it's more of a major issue rather than this, but opinions?

try resetting you ecu to get use to the more air and therefore will add fuel(BTW read this a bit ago. every time you change exhaust or intake restart your ecu)

but on the same note, I am a firm beliver in a tune. anytime you alter the motor it should be tuned the 02 sensor can only change the a\f so much and the map can only really detect pressure not cfm's or flow so the increse in throttle body size will increse the cfm's and there for drive the motor lean but I really dont think that the throttle body will do that much to the point that it would lag that much.

thanks for all the replys. Now at the same time, the EVAP system isn't completely hooked up. The plug is connected to the solenoid, but the two openings on the soleniod are just blocked off (with rubber nipples) instead of going to the can.
Would this affect it as well?

This cenario is not uncommon when installing oversized TB's. the least you can do is reset the ecu and let it go through atleast 3 fan cycles (start engine and don't touch anything/drive it until the fan cycles 3 times). Your next solution that will pretty much cure it is to install aftermarket cams. Skunk2 even mentions about possible bog when installing thier oversize TB's.
You could also try using adj. cam gears. Someone told me they did this and it helped.
I also realized it's an A2 motor. In my opinion, this motor is my least favorite. Try swaping in a set of GSR cams.
