Default Lack of power in the upper end

96 civic ex auto

I was wondering if anyone has this as well.

Say driving 70 mph and 3.5k rpms, I hit the gas and there is a dead space I have to go pretty far down on the peddle for it to get some power.

Note this is with the AC on.

What happens if the A/C is off?

Still similar but not as bad. I know the AC drains the engine, but still feels it is dead.
