KYB AGX adjustable struts
sup guys. could you guys give me your opinion on these struts? i got some coilovers and i wanted to buy some struts to acompany them. i found these for sale for 250 plus shipping and handling for all four. i wanted some opinions on how well they perform and if they are worth investing in. just give me your ups and downs if any of you guys have them in your ride. thanks.

I have a DIY on how to install them if you would like to see it. I love the set of shocks though - they ride fantastic. If you use them with GC coilovers be ready to break out the dremel and shave part of the coilover due to fitment issues.

That's a good price. I bought mine from tirerack.com 2.5 years ago. I have the agx with Eibach Sportlines. These measured about 2 1/8th inch drop. I really like them. I've never gone to a road course with them, but on corners and stuff, they're sweet. The adjustability is cool too. You can tell a difference between full hard and full soft settings. I think, if this car is just a daily car, and not one that you'll be going to the track with, I'd consider non-adjustables. I could put mine on full hard and be cool. So, that means using the softer settings, doesn't give you much. But, the price might be right.

$250 NEW is a good price. i got a set for $240 shipped new due to some coupon error on JC whitney's website like 4 years ago.

awesome. thats wut i wanted to hear. yea, its just for a daily driver to school. im on a budget and the stock struts on my car has been dead for awhile now. and after installing the coilovers, they suck like **** too. im not much into racing or anything. just pure performance. okay, im getting them for sure. by the way, im not slamming my ride either, just lowering it by 1and half, or two. thanks for the reply

its all good. im a klutz when it comes to cars, but i know how to install struts. if i, when im installing them , need some help, ill know who to contact. thanks for the info.

No, you don't have to do anything to your coilovers, and yes, they will "just slide in." KYBs are the same as OEM Honda dampers as far as spring/sleeve mounting goes.
Bilsteins and Konis are the dampers that have different mounting requirements.

will they still ride the same if its lower than 2". btw im trying to find out how much of a drop i did, its a stock 93 civic ex, i lowered it to about 1 finger gap. how much is that from stock?

I have had KYB AGX's on Ground Control Coils and Ground Crontrol Upper Mounts for over 1 1/2 years and the ride is good. It's nice to get the adjustability. I have not felt a difference over this time, meaning they still feel like new with a 2 inch drop. Installation did not require any dremel or any **** like that. These shocks and KYB get from me.

Depends on how stiff your springs are and how much shock travel you have before the bump stop . . .

Depends on how stiff your springs are and how much shock travel you have before the bump stop . . .

If you were to remove them from the car and go to get them replaced, how can they tell how low the car was?

i'm guessing you can tell by looking at the piston shaft to see if has travelled all the way (instead of a shorter stroke with lowering springs).
i had these for a bit and liked them. only thing i didn't really like was the settings of them. i had the 4ways and found that 4 was too stiff, 3 was pretty good for daily driving, but 2 and 1 were just WAY too soft.
i think some of the newer ones have like 8 settings or more so that should correct that problem.

I have KYB's and H&R sport springs on my EG hatch. I got mine for $320 shipped, so if yours is around $280 shipped new then you're getting a great price.
My install did require a dremel because I had to use some oem parts like the collars, bumpstops and some washers. I had to cut up my stock struts to get to them. But I had to use these parts because I'm on springs. I don't know if you need to use these parts since you'll be using coilovers however. Can someone clarify this?

go find what stock height is for a stock 93 ex and then measure the height of your car and you use subtraction to find out how much you dropped.

A greater number of settings won't make any difference if the damping adjustment range is still the same.
