Alright, I've read a lot about both and here is my dilema. On my 99 SI with OEM SI wheels I have Kumho 712's in front and 711's in back. The 711's are shot and need replaced. I was planning on putting the new tires on front and moving the 712's to the rear as I always do. After much reading (on here and other places) I think I want to give the Yokohama's a try. My biggest concern is I don't know if it going to look funny or even be noticeable with mismatched tires front and rear. At least now I have Kumho's all around so they look the same.

And has anyone ran the Yoko's and have anything good or bad to say? I like my Kumho's but I've never had anything else to compare them to. The car is a daily driver and sees a lot of Oregon rain with occasional trips to the track in the summer.

If you want to try the Yokos, then try them. Why not get all 4? They're more expensive than Kumhos, but they're not particularly expensive when you look at the big picture.

You should be rotating your tires regularly so that one end doesnt wear out faster than the other.

ES100's have better grip than the 712's, but the ES100 sidewalls have a good deal more flex in them. In auto-x settings, raising pressures pretty much cures this, though. Overall, a killer tire for daily driving and nice performance for auto-x.

As for the other dilemma, if you have to mix and match, put the new ES100's up front and run the old 712's out back if you must. It's a ghetto way of dialing out some understeer. Not totally recommended, but I've done it myself and I was fine.

tirerack.com has reviews. i have es100 on my car for about 4months. it handles good but in the rainy days they don't hold up too well. i'd give it a 7.

If the 712's are anything like the 711's get the Yoks. I despise my 711's, I have them all around and I have serious traction issues with them. Not to mention from what I've noticed all Kuhmo tires wear down unusually quick.

My friend tried both Kumho Ecsta 712a and Yokohama AVS ES100 and he says the ES100s are much better than the Ecsta 712s.

Only thing I didn't like...but might not apply to a honda...is that they cambered hella quick and easy on my stock height stealth. But remember...thats a 3000+ lb beast, and comes cambered stock. Other than that...my friend has them on his DC...they hooked hella good, and he liked them better than the Supra 712's that he swapped to the front now. And ES100's aren't all that much more...$6/tire. Also...tirerack did a review between ES100's, Supra 712's, and some Sumotumo tire...and the ES100's came out on top.

Yup, good tirerack.com review . Those sumitomo HTZ are pretty sweet . Supposedly they have great lateral traction and better than average wet traction.

I have the 712's for daily driving. You cant beat them for the price. Once they heat up they start to stick a good amount.

yokohama's suck. kumhos are better only place where the yoks are better that i've noticed is snow traction. and either shouldn't be used in snow.

the yoks don't hold any power and all...they just wheel hop and bounce all over the place when my kumho's grab a hell of alot better. get the kumho. spring like 20 a tire more and get the mx series

Well everyone, still not sure. Was going to get the Yok's but someone mentioned they sucked in the rain and I live in Oregon where it rains every day. I currently have the 712's and they seem to do alright but I've never had anything else on this car to compare them to. There really is no difference in price between the two and someone also said that their Yok's cambered real bad which isn't good since my SI is on H&R sports without a camber kit. Its at 1.5 degrees in front and 2.5 in rear. So I'm still undecided.

If you're happy with the 712s I'd just stick with them.

Question: Which tire would last longer, ES100, 711, or 712?

Im trying to pick one of those tires. My current ES100 has (relatively)bad camber wear for my drop which is about an inch all around( on ITR Springs ). They lasted about 20k miles which is 2x that of my last set of azenis but the azenis didnt mind the camber.

IMO, the yoko's aren't too bad in the rain. I have yet to hydroplane and I've been in some pretty good rain at highway speeds and slightly above. I think they're a good daily driving tire but absolutly suck when it comes to autox. They either roll over or slide when you put more air in them. I have yet to find the happy medium.

the kuhmo's are pretty good tirres for the price
i am running 711's and once they heat up they grip pretty decent
and they shed water and have really good wet traction

i would get them again but i think i am gonna try some azenis next time

711s are a great street tire, but I wouldn't say the grip when they heat up is "pretty decent." They get a very greasy feeling out on track.

If you're on a budget I'd say 711s, but they also suck in the wet, so maybe 712s.

If you're looking to get the best bang for the buck get some Azenis.

He's comparing 711/712 and ES100, not MX and ES100. Certainly the MX is a much better tire than the others, but it doesn't seem like he wants to spring for that kind of money right now. $20 per tire translates to $80 overall - a significant difference when you can have 4x Kumho 711s shipped to your door for only $200.

If it were up to me i would either get the toyo fz4's or some falken ze-512s. Ive had my toyos on for a little over a year now and they are maybe only halfway worn down. I know i drive atleast 20k miles a year as well, but i also work at Tire Kingdom and rotate and balance them every 3k and check my alignment on a weekly basis

i 've had both. Imho the yoks are a much better tire and i got all 4 with road hazard in 195-50-15 for $240 mounted and balanced.Plus they are a very light tire. The kumho's sucked in snow,rain and were noisy.

my yoks are great in the rain. much more stable than my old Kumho 712's. i live in WA too.

ive got the ES 100 s on a monster 3G..and it holds up just fine in all weather..

ive also ran the Kumho s and though i was happy with them too i much prefer the yoko s in the dry..not that it really matter s but id stick with a tire that has superior dry tracktion over one that has better wet weather

rarely will u find a tire in this price range that has both wet and dry superiority
