KONI YELLOW shocks question
alright well i just baught some used koni yellow shocks. i heard i have to use special ground control coilovers/skunk2 or eibach springs. but the question is i baught my shocks used and the pressure is still good and everything but the guy told me it was complete, but im just wondering if its normal that its missing that one lil metal piece in the middle of each strut that holds the coilover/springs. heres a pic of how they look like. jus wanna make sure before i buy anything

you are missing the spring seats if you plan on using springs (with the GC they fit right over the circlip)
also the shaft bushing collar, it goes inside of the rubber bushings at the top of the shock shaft/tophat. The stock ones wont fit around the bigger diameter koni shaft.

Re: (ph0shizzle)
Well if the person you are buying them from is the original owner, ask that person if he/she has the receipt so you can call Koni. I have a friend that purchased his kit used off ebay and it was missing something. He had the original receipt and contacted Koni, they gave him the perches he needed. Hope that's some help. You could also get lucky and try craigslist or ebay to see if anyone might be dumping their "spare parts" for sale.

if you're talking about the spring perches, i never used mine....im me and you can have em for a couple bucks..
now if you're getting ground controls the are kept on by small metal rings....it looks like they are on the shock to me... see where the indentations are near the koni sticker, its a little metal ring that goes in there...thats what the perch sits on...
if you have that little ring thats all you need.

Re: KONI YELLOW shocks question (ph0shizzle)
Before you go off buying anything, what do you want to use with these shocks?
If you want to use stock springs or aftermarket progressive rate springs (Eibach, H&R etc...), you will have to purchase the slip on spring perches that sit on the snap ring. Sorry your stock ones are spot welded to the shocks. They are not meant to be removed.
If you want to turn you Koni's into coil overs, you can actually buy the adjustable spring perches right from Koni, which is what I did, and then you can buy any 2.5" Linear rate spring (Eibach ERS, Hypercoil etc...) in what ever length or spring rate you choose. Ended up being cheaper then buying Ground-Control's and better customer service.

Mr Hammond nailed it on the head. The GC's collar will slip down over the shock and sit on that snap right and have a little indentation so the snap ring can't expand once the collar is slid down all the way. Then you adjust the perch on the collar to set your ride height. These Konis were made to utilize the GCs that are made for this shock.

THats what the spring perches look like
that's the clip that the ground control sleeve sits on..if you get coil overs.
if you have them both you're good.

I have the complete opposite set-up and I believe my set-up is "banging".
