Knocking noise at low RPMs
A couple days ago I was on the freeway and drove my car pretty hard. Everything was fine up until I got off and heard a loud knocking noise whenever I gave the car gas. I got it to the shop that I was going to (not for me, for a friend) and popped the hood and looked at it. I was low on oil so I added some.
Anyways, I've been trying to figure out what it is. Everything points to rod knock up until I drive the car in any gear above 2500 RPM. The knocking nearly goes away. And with rod knock, the noise should get louder as the RPMs go up. I'm thinking it's the pilot bearing. Anyone else have any ideas as to what it could be?
It's a d16y8.

I dont know. In my friends probe when the motor threw a rod the nocking got softer as it was revved higher but eventually just got horrible.
