Knocking on deceleration

Knocking on deceleration
I have a 2000 civic lx with a b18 and manual transmission. Recently when decelerating it makes a loud knocking sound. It is car speed related not engine speed. When on the gas or stopped it goes away completely. It makes it in any gear or neutral but not in reverse. Thinking cv or half shaft. But not sure.
Any ideas? Thanks

Re: Knocking on deceleration
Not yet. Problem started yesterday and has been raining. I plan on looking at it tomorrow. Will the axels have some sort of play in them if they're bad?

More so just the CV boots will be ripped unless the axel has become unseated but then you'd have other problems too.
is the car lowered(to an excessive amount) ?.

Re: Knocking on deceleration
Update: The drivers side axel had some play in it. Replaced and still makes the noise. When I'm moving it knocks unless I'm on the gas. Doesn't matter if I'm braking, coasting in gear or neutral. Definitely coming from the front somewhere.
It's only lowered about an inch.
Thanks
