1. A knock sensor detects preignition (misfiring) inside your engine. You don't need it. It's just like a "hey, you, your engine's misfiring, hold up, here's a check engine light for you to look at" kind of deal.
2. You can get one at an online retailer like slhondaparts.com or hondapartsdeals.com (OEM) or you can pick one up at autozone.
3. It has nothing to do with your fuel trim, it won't do anything if it's bad, it just won't detects "knocks" in the event that your engine starts knocking (misfiring or preigniting).

If it throws a knock sensor code it means the knock sensor is tripping.
If it was misfiring it'd be a CEL like "misfire in cylinder 2" or something to that effect.

Re: (1WickdTeg)
i had the same problem.....i took a 10 mm bolt 1/2in. long and welded the sensor to the bolt and bolted it to my chassis....it just has to be grounded.....now i havent had that knock sensor code come up since april....not saying its the right way but its a way that works and doesnt look ghetto cuz you dont even see it......ORRR the right way, chip the ecu and disable the knock ...g/l

syndacate is very correct but, the knock sensor can adjust ignition timing to help correct or eliminate spark knock due to things like bad gas
