Default Knock sensor issues.

Hey all

I just inherited a b16a (sirII) swapped eg cx from a buddy of mine and after fixing the problem with his MIL indicator never coming on (blown bulb) I discovered that the car was flagging 2 codes.

02 heater circuit (I need to figure if they did the 1-4 wire conversion correctly).

And the infamous knock sensor code.

Since the engine bay is a mess of strung unkept wires I decided to check at the ecu which im presuming is the jdm p30 ecu(i'm gussing this because it's the ecu that came with the swap hence the "b16a vtec" painted on the cover.)

Anyways, checked and there is no wiring at the pin designated for the knock sensor nor is there an actual sensor located in the block...i was like wtf?

I have no history of this car...what do you guys think? Wire one up?

I cleared codes and it went away, I cant drive it now due to it not having a drivers seat..Ive tried setting it off but without putting the car under a load the code still hasnt come back.

Anyone?

I'm pretty sure i'm taking the path of the rywire vtec subharness and doing things the right way with installing a knock sensor..

My actual question is has anyone heard of this before?

is your engine b16a or like b16a4 since you said sirII, first find out what ecu and ecgine you have for sure here you can see what ecu you have http://www.hondata.com/techecuid.html here is for engine identification http://images.google.com/imgres?imgurl=http://i172.photobucket.com/albums/w30/brutalb83/B16A03.jpg&imgrefurl=http://www.hondashowoff.com/forums/showthread.php%3Ft%3D12365&usg=__izOdw5DCXQGqlnYkb eBn3r8GcLA=&h=386&w=537&sz=69&hl=en&start=1&um=1&t bnid=2gJzy-XgicDE6M:&tbnh=95&tbnw=132&prev=/images%3Fq%3Dhonda%2Bengine%2Bidentification%26um% 3D1%26hl%3Den%26safe%3Doff%26client%3Dfirefox-a%26rls%3Dorg.mozilla:en-USfficial%26sa%3DN

if your engine doesn't have a a knock sensor it isn't really vital, you can program your ecu so it wont look for it and that will turn off the cel

It's definitely the SirII b16a.

And I know for a fact now that it has the jdm p30 ecu....

The whole subharness that was on it for the vtec and 1 wire to 4 wire conversion was homemade and half ***'d..gonna have to get a harness from rywire and start from scratch. I just though it was weird that there was no knock sensor nor wiring.

A couple years ago I purchased a jdm b16a first gen for an ed hatch of mine..that engine came with a knock sensor in the block.

Weird.

the jdm p30 ecu doesn't look for a knock sensor? I'm pretty sure of it. If it does then your going to either have to get it disabled, or chip a p28, aka a vtec ecu that doesn't look for knock sensor.

dude...I have no idea lol..

In all the swap info that ive read the directions say to wire the knock to a pin in the D cavity..it escapes my memory as of now.

And I will repeat, the car was throwing a knock sensor code when I fixed the MIL on the guage cluster.

Crazy.
