Harness issue
If you break a knock sensor off completely and the car runs and you drive it for about 20 miles, can it alter the timing to where you need to adjust timing back to where it should be? Is their anything else it could have damaged?
Eventually after driving for a while when i gave it gas it would bog out on me and i wouldnt get any torque. This bogging started at about 5k and kept working its way down to about 2k and now it wont even hold an idle.

Re: Knock sensor (99simoder)
It will pull timing when there is no knock sensor present or if something is triggering the knock sensor. You are throwing a check engine light and you cannot just simply alter timing so it would go back to normal. Replace it.

Re: Knock sensor (99simoder)
another question.
I have a JDM B18C in my 99 Si.
My first question is. Can the USDM B16a2 harness hook up to all the JDM B18C sensors, etc without wiring modification?
Since the JDM B18C is OBD1 and the factory USDM B16a2 harness is OBD2, what ECU should i run?

yes your USDM B16A2 harness will hook up the JDM B18C sensors except the butterfly valve. But if you change the intake manifold to the aftermarket(Skunk 2, or Blox Racing) intake manifold then you don't need to worry about the butterfly valve. Also the distributor plug will need to be change to match so can plug in.
As far as the ecu you can use OBD2 P72/OBD2 99~00 Si (make sure you hook up the second O2 and the butterfly valve, and the crank angle sensor on the oil pump) or you can just use the OBD1 P30 ecu with ecu OBD 2B to OBD1 jumper harness(only thing you need to use any OBD2B DOHC VTEC -99 Si distributor) and everything will work just fine.
I wish everything working out fine for you!

no dizzy modification required. just use your B16 dizzy on the B18C. done deal. why did you tell him tomodify his dizzy harness , and than in the next sentence almost , tell him his own dizzy will work? i dont get it. the sensor by the crank pully on the oil pump , is not crank angle sensor , crank fluctuation sensor. and if converts to OBD1 , he doesnt have to worry about that anymore.
