do you know where your oil pressure sensor is next to your oil filter? if so it is right above that and has a green clip with one red/blue wire coming off of it.

here is a pic courtesy of honda-perf.org, as you can see it is the green plug above the oil filter

A lot of people don't run the knock sensors. Perhaps whoever did your swap removed it and left it unplugged? The pic thats above should help you.

? purchase a new sensor, I don't know how bad it is to run without one but for peace of mind I would put in a sensor.

If your ECU requires it (P30 for example) then get one. It will retard the timing without the sensor.

Not if the sensor is disabled... and if it can't "see" the sensor, it won't retard the timing either... only when it recieves a signal from it will it pull timing. It most likley in his case IS disabled since he doesn't report any CEL's... So adding one would do him little to no good without changing his chip.

If you REALLY want one, I have one in the garage. Make me an offer.

okay, I am throwing a code 23 on my b16a w/ pw0 ecu, so your saying if I simply unplug my knock sensor the cel will go away and my timing will go back to normal? That doesnt sound right, but i'll try anything to get this damn light to turn off lol

I don't know about hondas, but on nissan if you unplug the knock sensor without putting the same value of resistor in that circuit you will throw a code.

Well, here is the problem. You have the CEL on because the knock sensor is either A). faulty, or B). has detected LARGE amount of knock and thus cannot pull enough timing to correct the situation and has therefore thrown the code. Unplug it, reset the ECU, see what you get. I am pretty sure it will not throw a code, but I could be wrong. Its been a LONG time since I tested this crap out. But thats NOT the right way to fix this specific situation!

Well it seems to be running fine, so I guess it's probably the knock sensor, anyone have one and willing to sell for cheap?

wow, looks like there is some misunderstanding in this thread. In one of the previous posts, someone mentioned that knock may be disabled. You can only do this by chipping the ecu (or removing resistors from the board). If you leave it unplugged, and not disabled in the ecu, it will throw a code. OP, buy a sensor (used are usually fine, might want to pm hybrid93eg) and hook it up, and you'll be good.

So you unplugged it and it did NOT throw a code? Am I understanding this right? I have on in the garage also. Make me a reasonable offer and I will get it out to you tomorrow.

I just tested this out on a swap I just completed. XSI motor into a 92 DA. I unplugged the knock, sure enough, no codes. Granted I did not drive the car for a long time, it wasn't on in the 10-15 mins it idled for.

On my H22 with p13, I would get the code once the motor hit operating temp when knock wasn't hooked up. I was driving at the time, so I'm not sure if certain rpm's have anything to do with it too or not. It felt like I was down 20-30 hp when the code showed up though, due to the retarded timing.

Hmmm, I'm doing an H22 into EG tomorrow. I'll test it out.
