Is this a knock sensor?
I bought one from a h-t member and it looks like the one by the oil filter in this picture. It has a black collar and the single silver pointy thing coming out of it:

Re: Is this a knock sensor? (chowmien)
Nope not a knock sensor. The part of the knock sensor that goes in the motor will be flat metal. It will have a black or green clip, 2pin grey style connector but only 1 wire will be coming from it. Your picture didn't load so I'm just basing this off how you described it. Also the metal to screw it in will be like 22mm or 23mm.
EDIT: I was able to load the image, it is not the silver pointy one. The green one to the left of it. The pointy one is pertaining to oil, not knock. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news.

Yeah, but I posted an ad on the classifieds stating I wanted a knock sensor and someone replied saying they had one so I bought it.

Nah I don't believe he's a scammer. I just gotta try to get the right sensor from him or get my money back first.

I am not trying to disagree with you, but are you sure? That picture was taken from c-speedracing.com on an ls/vtec build. They later on show this photo
Now if the green one is the sensor, why in the world did they add the black one?
And here they show the picture of the back of a b18a block, stating it does not have a knock sensor...although you can obviously see the green one.

Re: Is this a knock sensor? (chowmien)
no, if you read the article you would know that is a option, to use as a knock sensor location for ls/vtec setups, but you still have to open the hole up bigger, retap it and then screw in the knock sensor, you really should do some reading before asking quesitons.

The VTEC solenoid is on the head, not on the block
(But it has the same green plug)

If you noticed, he's showing his block. That is NOT his cylinder head. The VTEC solenoid is on the cylinder head.

Re: Is this a knock sensor? (Dimi)
I belive the green plug has something to do with water, i know for sure its not knock, and the one to the right of it is oil( the one prong one)

Re: Is this a knock sensor? (Timmay)
ok the two pronged sensor that has a black boot over it is the water temp sensor........the one pronged sensor is the oil sending unit.........the green one i cant think right now but im sure it has something to do with water temp as well.......and the hole inthe alternator bracket is a spot that people choose to put a know sensor when doing ls/vtec.........the knock sensor will have a plug for a two wire plug to come off of it but the harness will only have one wire................... look at spankjelly's pic that one is a knock sensor............

Alright everyone, thanks for clearing that up...becuase the initial response to this post before I brought it back up was that the green plug was the knock sensor...which I was pretty positive it was not. Thanks for the info guys
