kinda OT but need some help
My friends brother has a 95 avenger. Last monday they got a few things fixed while it still had a warranty left (guess it was some sort of extended warranty). Anyways, they replaced the headgasket, timing belt, spark plugs and did just a general tune up. Well lastnight he was driving around and heard this wierd noise (he is not a car guy at all so...) he said it was pretty bad in 1st and 2nd gear but went away in 3rd, so he got it home and called his bro and myself. After he got home he went to move it, turned the car on it made the noise and the engine just quit. When we got home we poped the hood and checked the oil...which seemed relatively new even though they said they hadnt done an oil change...so that seemed ok, so we wanted to hear the noise....had him start to turn the engine over and DAAAAMMMN...it was a belt...not the accessory belt, but timing belt we thought.... we took this lil piece of the timing belt cover off to look in there and the belt looked kinda tore up....so we were like hrrrrmm....he turned the key again and we saw that nothing in there was moving.... The dealership that did the work is towing it today and said that it sounds like timing belt probs blah blah... they said they would fix it if it was something they did, but if its a "stripped cam" then they wouldnt cover it.... WTF?! sounds to me like it could only be a mistake putting on the timing belt or the WRONG timing belt.
Sorry for length.... what are yall's opinions
