Default Keyless Entry problem.

I just purchased a 1996 Honda Civic LX and replaced the stereo with an aftermarket cd player. Now that I have changed the radio my keyless entry function does not work. There was a separate harness that attached to the back of the factory radio, so I'm thinking that was the wiring to the anti-theft stuff. So my question is, is there a way to fix this to where it would work again? Maybe an aftermarket harness adapter?

Thank you in advance for any and all replies.

Go to best buy, get a Y-harness, specifically for 96-98 civic - it will power both decks.
You have to keep the factory deck powered and that green connector (the one youre talking about) plugged in. Just stuff the deck behind the dash.

The factory deck controls keyless and dome light functions.
Yes, it is retarded.
No, theres no easier/free way around it.
(well, there is for the dome light...but keyless...no)

I don't know about stuffing it behind the dash, but if I can do some adjusting I can move the factory deck to the console where the tape deck is. Unless I just say forget it and roll how it is.

Thanks for your two cents though.

Do the above stated and also I found out that once you change the battery in the remote you need to initate it again with the car system by hitting either the lock or unlock button 6 times in succession to get it to work properly again.

Whenever I do an install for a 96-98, I install it the stock deck up top, bring the stock deck down by the cupholders, set the keyless:

And then I remove the fascia of the stock radio, and ziptie it in the console behind the cupholders/console.

Another option is to have your new deck down by the cupholders, and your stock radio up where it's supposed to be, or remove the fascia and put an OEM single-din blockoff in front of it. Both of these are better options, IMHO, because it allows your expensive new deck to be bolted into the car, instead of being in a stupid aluminum cage with sliders. Also, with the cupholder lid up, it gives the appearance of not having an aftermarket deck, so less chance of a smash-n-grab.

Man, I'd probably just get an aftermarket keyless and pull all the OEM stuff.
