what does that mean? since when do you need to press your brake to start your car? did you mean clutch?

Re: key wont come out??? (hondab18a)
just because i went through this massively annoying issue and the search didnt help cos when i wired it exactly as it said still didnt work...
take the steering column cover off to expose the ignition.. with the power on, and then turn the key and try to take it out after turning it to on etc.. something should click towards the bottom of the ignition... sounding like a relay.. should be two small screws.. and it will come off and have 2 wires to it.. take them out and hey presto job done.. have a play around and look around.. you will find it.. (if you managed to do the conversion you will be able to do this)
dont know if its the right way.. but worked for me... and i dont have pics..

to OP.
do you still have the automatic's gear selector? (little white looking box thing)
make sure that is all the way in park.
the last owner of my car was a ****** and didn't re-do the wiring.
so i have the electrical of an automatic.. with the mechanical of a manual.

The battery does have something to do with it as mentioned a few posts down from yours with the relay sounding item that can be disconnected, The key should not be allowed to be removed from the car if it is not in park for an automatic.
