i reealize that i need my stock radio to make my key fob work for my door locks but there is a green harness and a gray with all the power and stuff for the radio and the green for the security stuff...my question is in order for the fob to work do i have to have both plugged in or just the green one...i have a aftermarket stereo this is why i ask and i want to use my key fob

I remember hearing that 96-98 the security was through the cd player and 99-00 the security was seperate. I am guessing you have a 96-98. put the aftermarket cd player in and install a new alarm. oem car alarms aren't effective.

You need 12v ign (yellow), ground (black), and 12v constant (red) going to the radio, and the green plug needs to be in as well.

Buy a piggyback harness like this:

Then hide your stock radio in your dash.

Wow not to dig up an old thread but this just explained a lot to me. I just bought my 98 ex coupe this week and it came with an aftermarket pioneer headunit. Well It was night time and I was driving n noticed a light shinning through the climate control. I look closer and see the person who put in the aftermarket radio pushed the stock deck into the dash board. This is why my factory alarm still works normal

The security system on these cars bolts on top of the radio, but what most people are thinking of is just the keyless entry (which is built into the radio).
