Default keeps blowing fuse 19

so im driving down the road at night and my dash lights randomly go out. so i stop and check my tail lights and there out too. so i checked my fuses and #19 was blown. i replaced it and checked to see if my lights worked but they didnt so i checked the fuse again and it had blown and every fuse i put in after it blew right when i put it in. what could this possibly be. please help its 4:00 in the morning and im stuck at my friends house

Short wire somewhere. Check your wiring.

get a volt meter and look up the circut and test at connectors

Chances are, one or more of your wires for those components have worn through and now they are grounding/shorting out. If your only tools are a hammer and adjustable wrench, maybe you should leave this job to an automotive electrical shop. If you have some patience, start looking over your wires for a break.

Try looking on google for someone else that has had this problem. Chances are, this has happened to more than one person.

My guess would be a bad dimmer switch. Pop the switch out of the dash, jump the red to the black wire in the uncoupled switch connector and then turn the lights on to see whether the fuse no longer blows.

i had this happen in my civic lol i check the back lights bulb what to find one bulb melted together on the bottom i toke the old one out and stuck the new one in with another fuse and i was good to go
