Keep $3k Civic Coupe DX for Si or SiR Conversion or Save to buy 2000 Si?
Hey whats i'm I'm new to Honda-Tech. I've had my 97 Civic Coupe DX for about 7months now and it had 76,000 miles when i bought it. It's a manual...stock everything but a old Alpine head unit with from alpine 6 1/2 speakers and tweeters in the front an a 8" Kicker Comp VR sub..not bad from a cousin. I paid $3,000 for it so he can get his new RSX. Anyways i was thinking bout doing a Si/SiR engine swap/conversion..or should i just save up for a 2000 Si? My car is in excellent shape..some minor body work needed, paint is still shiny and glossy. Thanks! [I]

Welcome to Honda-Tech, I live in Douglasville, Ga and Im gonna do the 99-00 Conversion as well, theres alotta stuff you can do to your Civic, I mean u can get a b16a2 swap for 2300 bucks from Passwordjdm.com and places like that, plus ur DX is hella light so yeah u can see good times with that swap and turbo, but what U can do when u swap the motor out, u can get the Si gauge clusters so u wont have to get one of those big ole tachs. Im sure u can get the Si clusters for 100 bucks used from here. As a matter of fact I know somebody who has some that he might be selling. if U have AOL IM me dsgb316 or if U have nextel give me ur DC number and we can talk there.

If I were you, I'd just keep the DX. 99-00 Si's are big time targets for thieves cuz they know that whoever buys an Si is more than liking gonna have mods done to it that the crooks can steal. Whereas with a DX, they might be like "Who does up a DX?" So your chances might be lower.

I say just do the conversion. You'll save money on insurance, have a little bit lighter car to work with. You'll end up with a quicker car, for cheaper.

How about searching this website, finding out your options, and then make the decision that best suites your goals and budgets?
