Default k24a4 in a hatch.

First off I did the search and did not find the exact answers. If they were talikng about k24 that is all they wrote k24 not a4 etc.

Off to :
I know they put type s heads on the k24's, but I came upon someone saying that the pictons in the k24a4 need to be changed in order to work with the k20 head.

Will the engine harness from any k series motor will work on any k series

If you have the k frankie which tranny to go with? I read that the close ratio 6 speed ( rsx ) some people consider useles because the you can not get the traction on 1st and 2nd gears. So should you go with TSX tranny or the base 5 speed tranny?

element/accord yes

if you are going to use an a2 head I would use the k20a2 harness...I think you can use the stock k24a4 harness but you might have to modify the harness slightly (try asking hasport - brian g)

base 5 spd tranny will work fine

What's the point of doing that if you can get the TSX complete? If DBW is the problem, you can just switch out the throttle body with an RBC intake mani from the new Si and an Accord/RSX tb...

don't forget
$350 axles
$500+ mounts
$850 K-pro
$450+ fuel lines & FPR
$350-1400+ header
$250+ intake manifold
$100+ custom intake
$350 adapter harness (hasport/hybrid-racing/rcrew)
$500+ (bunch of misc ****.... idler pulley, belts, sensors, etc)
$1000+ install & dyno tune

no point in swap in a K if you are going to halfass it

I am aware of the prices. Still you will nedd the same stuff when you are putting in the TSX.

Besides isn't the k24a4/k20a have better numbers then k24a2?

I am aware of the 5 speed being posiible to mount to the swap , but is it true that the 5 speed is better ( assuming it will have the LSD ) then the 6 speed?

Regarding the harness... I guess my point is that i putted b18c5 in my hatch without the need of changing the harness, some minor modifications to the harness and I am good. Now if I have the base RSX harness will it work with any K series engine? ( With mninor modifications )

Not really...the TSX has a well designed head and the intake and exhaust cams are similar. I believe the intake cam from the RSX performs better, but the exhaust cam is exactly the same. It's not hard to interchange them if you feel the urge.

I asked Brian from Hasport if he recommended the frankenstein or just a TSX motor in terms or reliability and he said just go with the TSX motor. If you get the manual TSX it comes with a 6 speed manual out of the box plus the 3 lobe cams that everyone loves.

A TSX engine can be had for 2500 on Kseries.org

A place like haprecycling should have an engine and tranny as a complete set as well.

You can do the frankenstein if you want but you might sacrifice reliability. Poor install could blow it.

Why 5 instead of 6 anyway?

In an EG a 24 would be spinning through 1st gear anyway

5 spd would work best (especially w/LSD)...in most cases...if you build a block to handle 8500 rpms the 6spd might be better but in your case (or so it seems) the 5spd would work best

yes base harness with minor mods with any K motor

not necessarily....with proper tuning & equal they are basically the same...the TSX has slightly higher compression

I was talking about ep3/base rsx 5spd....vs 6spd RSX-S...the TSX 6 is also a good option

What I'm shooting for is a new Si tranny with a factory LSD. I know it's not as good as Quaife but it's already there

QUAIFE is a manufacturer of LSD among other car parts (custom 6spd sequential shift box's, custom gears/ratios etc...) the make the best LSD...rather expensive at $850 but has a lifetime warranty

far better than phantomgrip & kaaz LSDs IMO
