Sorry, but you've already answered you're own questions. It takes a whole lot of money, time, parts, converting, knowledge, and RESEARCH. The engine alone is about 5k, plus you'll needs parts, etc.... Check out k20.org!

If money is an issue than dont do it. IMO a k20 swap is all bragging rights. For the price of a k20 swap in a hatch you could have a built and boosted B series.

Re: k20 in eg hatch (that_eg_hatch_guy)
well i actually know a guy that i can get the motor for a STEAL!!! it was blown but the guy said it had a new block and high compression pistons and everything needed....motor, 6-speed tranny, ecu, wiring harness. i think i just need mounts, some kind of harness, and TIME!! but this is the ideal swap for me so i hope it works out.

Getting the motor for a steal might make it ~$2k less probably?? If you insist than go ahead because theres nothing wrong with having a k20 hatch. I just think the time and money could be better spent elsewhere.

Re: (iVteC_PoWeR)
well the guy said that i could get it for like 1800. it is disassembled but has everything. it also comes with a bunch of aftermarket parts. so i think its a good deal. im thinkin 1800 for k20 motor, 6speed tranny (w/ lsd), wiring harness, and ecu.....then mabye 700 for mounts ....then 350 for some wiring thing he said i needed.....and maybe 500 to have it assembled. im afraid to do it cuz i will prolly put something on wrong and blow it up!! so im hoping to get away with about $3600 all together. thats cheaper than a junkyard wants for the full swap (w/o mounts and assembly and special harness thing). also the junkyard k20's are supposed to have like 20-30k on them. this motor will have 0. lol

It's one of the most difficult honda/honda swaps there are.
In the 4cyl range.
I've helped do a number of swaps, and most people will agree with what is the hardest/easiest.
From hardest to easiest.
k20/k26>k20>f2d/h2d>h/f>h2b/f2b>b>d
Essentially. If I left something out and it's totally obvious, cut me some slack. It's 1 am here.

I might actually go with that. Sure it's difficult, but that's why we research. Just make sure the motor actually isn't stolen.

Good luck with your $8,000 swap buddy. Go read another Honda-Tuning issue.

lol every high schooler wants a k20 swap in their honda. There actually was one kid with a k20 swapped crx in my district a few years ago.
A k20 swap IMO isnt practical. No doubt they are better than the B series but for now theyre too expensive. Swap in a gsr and turbo that. Itll be faster, cheaper, and easier to do.

Its not hard at all and it is plug and play as long as you have $$ to buy everything

Sure it can be plug and play. If by plug and play you mean plug $10,000 into a mechanics hand.

Another thing is that is your car hatch has ABS, you will need to take it out and either find brake lines from a non-abs hatch or make them yourself. This is so the header will fit.

Re: k20 in eg hatch (that_eg_hatch_guy)
i have a ballpark estimate of about 3k after everything....motor, tranny (w/ lsd), ecu, wiring harness=1800, mounts=650, special wiring harness=350??, maybe some other pieces....but i have heard that the mounts and wiring are the hardest thing about the whole swap. i mean this is the ideal swap for me. plus the motor has 0 miles on it....its still disassembled with high compression pistons and all that good stuff. i know that alot of teens want k20s but my cousin has an 05 civic si hatch and i fell in love with the power and sound from a k20....i think this is the more realistic swap for me....even if it does cost a shitload!!
