Default k swap becomes more affordable

I am almost done with my k swap in my eg hatch and I was going to show that it dosent cost $8k-10k for the swap. The swaps that cost that much are from people who wont shop for the best price they can get or they are buying DTR $1k+ headers and things like that. Will get pics up when I am done.

Here is my parts list and cost. I tried to do the swap for $7k or less and got close.
Hasport mounts-$495
Hybrid harness
clutch line
AEM FPR
Fuel lines
shifter clips-$800
DSS stage 1 axles-$400
thermo unit (temp sensor) $20
fan switch- $20
idler pulley and bracket-$40
7 rib 50.5" belt-$25
K Pro-$1045
90 degree fitting for clutch mc
female T w/ 2 nipples for temp sensor-$10
Hasport header-$400
K20a2 w/tranny
shiftbox w/cables
both O2 sensors
engine harness
charging harness-$4000
Total $7255

I still have to buy some wire and stuff to make the starter, alternator, and positive battery cable. Also vac and heater hoses.

It was $6210 for all the parts minus k pro b/c that isnt needed, it was something that I wanted. I could have got a PRC ecu for about $350 instead of the k pro.

Looking at your list, you could have saved $800...

k pro for $825 shipped from camp1320.com , axles for 300 shipped from camp1320.com and the k20a2 swap for $3500 from a few places.

Good job though and good luck.

Looking at the big picture... The rsx production is going to die in 2006. It will be replaced with the k20a and the k24a Civic Si. The tsx will fill the gap for the RSX.

This will go on till 2010.. I cannot predict after that.

Should be nice and fast, but I can't see myself spending $7,000 for a setup that can, and probably will, be stolen in 2 seconds. Rather save for property or a house.

LOL!!! Ya know, I've never been able to put that into words before.

BTW, has anybody come up with a way to mount a shifter under the stock EG center counsol (with audio console)? This is my biggest issue with this swap...

Then theirs guys that can afford new cars, and can afford to modify them. Then when their drivetrain craps out, their warranty won't cover it. Even if the car only has 5300 miles on it.

This happened to my best friend who bought an EVO8 and took it to Vishnu Tuning in Cali ($6k tune up). Then it developed the 5k mile "random missfire" problem that is a known defect in 03 models (according to him, since I've done NO research on this). He then traded the car in for a new STI and was out the $6k he just spent hopping up the EVO...

New Cars Suck!

Let's not try to resolve the meaning of life. Modding car is a sickness and if you are not crazy, chances are you are new on honda tech or you are on the wrong website.

Yes, it can be stolen... So what? That will not keep me from smoking a stock corvette.

The beauty of honda swaps whether its a K,B and H (no D sorry ) is that you have something unique. No 2 hybrids are alike. The process of putting one together whether you are doing it on your own or paying to get it done, allows you to apply your own touch... Make it personal.. your car. No matter what kind it is or how riced out it is... it is still your car...

The fact that is fast and a blast to drive makes the whole thing even better.

to the sick people

D is great but not many people swap the D... That is what I meant.

The beauty of honda swaps....

Of course you might argue that the B was stock in eg as well etc..

Anyway no disrespect.. my 92 DX id rocking a D with 230K miles

there isnt one single "fast" or even "quick" d series civic around here ive never been beatin' by a d motor in my i/h/e em1 either.. everyone around here loves Dsm's though, i guess i just see too many normal d motors around here which stand no chance against anything ever so they dissapoint me because dumbass's will then say honda's in general are slow sry if that all sounds neg, im not knockin the d series so dont go ape ****, im just saying where i live they dont stand a chance against a neon with 12" hubcap spinners..which add 5whp apparently

hahaha, that reminds me of the Seinfeld episode where Kramer does that to Elaine after she refuses to give him the little girls bike.

Very well said man

The thing with d's are: they are not swaps or hybrids 99% of the time. BUT i do know there are some crazy d setups out there so i'm not bashing.
