Hi guys

i have been cracking my head on this for days now. i failed emissions due to no link from the obd 2 connector to the ecm.

I have 98 honda civic cx with a d16y8. i dont have any cels i did test pin 16 and i do get 12vlts.

i looked at the service manual and it does say that the k-line needs to read 5v with the ignition turned on.

i wanted to see if anyone can offer any insight.

would i just need to run another wire to the ecm from the dlc or could it be a bad computer??

any help will be greatly appreciated..

Measure voltage at pin 8 and ground at pins 12 and 13. Also test the wire at pin 15 for continuity and a short.

So I get 12 volts at pin 8 I get continuity at pin15 but wen I check for the voltage I get close to 12 volts on it wen it should read 5 volts with the key turned to on. I use the grounds on the dlc to check pin 8.

I'm thinking it's the computer. I just wanna be sure before I go spend money..

Are you sure you are testing voltage at pin 15 (see diagram)? It is attached to a Blu/Yel wire.
